It represents a working operating system visualy allowing the user to select the different algorithms to use for each of the simulated subsystems: CPU, Memory and disk I/O.

VisualOS is an operating system simulator with the purpose of allowing easier and faster learning of such a beast's internals. It shows visually the most important mechanisms and allows manipulation the running system without writing a single line of code.

It's structure is quite simple. Initially each simulated subsystem is located in it's own window. The CPU is the center of the system and the originator of all activity requesting services from all others. Requirements: · GCC 2.95.2 or higher. Available also from the GCC Homepage · GNU Make · GTK+ and GLib Libraries version 1.2.x, downloadable from GTK+'s FTP server · GNOME development environment version 1.2.x, downloadable from GNOME's web page · libglade GUI librery version 0.16, downloadable from GNOME's FTP server · help2man version 1.24 (to generate the manpage), downloadable from GNU's FTP server · cygnus-stylesheets version 0.10.2 and sgml-tools version 1.0.9, for SGML documentation · bison version 1.28-5, if src/CPU/editor/parser.y is changed.
